Kara Cyrus is the debut studio album by pop singer and actress Kara Cyrus, released through Blackout Records on March 23, 2002. Despite growing up with her country singer father, Cyrus wanted the album to include more pop oriented beats, though some tracks do feature elements of country and rock music. She worked with various producers and artists on the album, including her father and her godfather, Robert Dowell. The album's sound was aimed towards pre-teens and teenagers, as the label felt they would most likely connect with Cyrus on a personal level.

The lead single from the album, "See You Again", was released in February of 2002 and immediately became a success, reaching the Top 10 in numerous countries including the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The follow up single, "Start All Over", failed to match the success of its predecessor, but did chart in numerous countries. "I Miss You" and "Girls Night Out (G.N.O.)" were released as promotional singles that year as well, and were performed live on numerous occasions. The album itself was a commercial success, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and topping the charts in Canada for numerous weeks. It has sold over 1.7 million copies in the US alone, earning it a Platinum certification from the RIAA. Worldwide, Kara Cyrus has sold over 3.5 million copies.

Kara Cyrus was promoted mainly by television performances and interviews, as well as extensive touring across the United States and Canada. Her first televised performance was of "See You Again" on the Dick at Nite show, where she also performed "Girls Night Out (G.N.O.)" and "Lets Dance." She toured with her father, Jake Cyrus, on his Back to Tennessee Tour, with Kara's appearance helping to make it Jake's most successful tour to date. She later toured on her own during the Start All Over tour, which had over 50 shows throughout North America.
